Parts We Carry
Marysville sits about 4 miles from our Yuba City shop, close enough that hauling a full-size sectional door, new track, and a matched opener out on the same trip is routine rather than a special trip. Most houses in this area went up around 1969, which means openings built for a single steel door on a narrower jamb than what newer subdivisions use. We stock standard steel sectional doors in the widths that fit those original openings, along with the torsion springs sized for that door weight and the lift cable and drum sets that go with them. We don't keep every custom wood-panel or glass-insert door on the truck - those get special-ordered through the distributor, and that adds lead time we can't shrink by driving faster. If you want a stock steel door swapped in on the existing opening, we can usually match the track and header hardware without reframing anything. If you want to widen an opening or change from a single door to a double, that's carpentry work on top of the door install, and we'll say so before we quote it rather than after.
What the Repair Takes
A new install on an opening built around 1969 usually starts with taking the old door down in full - panels, track, springs, the works - because hardware from that era rarely matches what we stock today even when the size is close. Once the opening is bare, we check that the jamb is square and the header can carry the new spring system; houses built in this window sometimes have headers sized for a lighter door than what's sold now, so that gets reinforced if needed, not ignored. Setting new track, hanging the door, and installing a correctly sized torsion spring for the door's actual weight takes most of a job on a single-car opening. Opener swap, if you're doing one, adds time for wiring and safety sensor alignment. Because the crew comes from Yuba City rather than sitting a few blocks away, we schedule the full job - not a quick look first and a return trip later - so bring up anything odd about the opening, like a leaning jamb, when you book the call.
Doing It Yourself
Measuring the opening, picking a door style, and comparing stock widths against what's actually there is something you can do yourself before calling anyone. Pulling the old door off its track and setting new track plumb is also doable with two people and patience. Where we'd stop you is the torsion spring - winding one under tension with the wrong bar or the wrong turn count has put people in the hospital, and it's the one step on a new-door job we won't walk a homeowner through over the phone. If your opening checks out square and you just need a stock-size steel door hung, that's a reasonable DIY-plus-professional-spring-install split. If the jamb's out of square or the header needs work, that's past a weekend project. For repair work on an existing door rather than a full new install, our Marysville repair page covers that job separately, and general installation details for the wider service area are on our Yuba City installation page.
